It's just the little things...

All those little jobs you never ever get round to doing come and bite you on the ass when you move abroad and need to rent out your house...

What have I done recently...

Had all the rooms but 1 carpeted - well I had other plans - wooden floors and such - you know how it is!

Had most of the house painted - pay someone to paint?!! - are you mad?? I can do that... just hang on for a few years - you'll see!

Painted the outside of the window over the outhouse - well I did not paint it when the scaffold was there coz I was going to fix the sash windows up real nice - so instead I balanced on the ledge and painted the top sash whilst hanging onto the bottom sash (that slides remember) - I drew the line at painting all the bottom sash as I would have had to close th ewindow on myself and had nothing to hold onto. Falling at this stage of the game was not in the plan.

I fixed the sash in the spare room - this was one of the first jobs I started when I bought the house - the sash was knackered so I took it out, glued it up, re-glazed it, painted it and then never re-hung it - until last week - 4 year from start to finish... well if you want air - just unlatch it and take it out - simple!

Fixed up the putty on the bottom windows - been on the cards for ages - but you cannot see them outside at the back of the house unless you go looking - and who is going to want to do that?!

Put floor tiles down in the kitchen - well - I used to like the old 60s tiles, and I did mean to reair them at some stage, but then again, when I got a new kitchen, the floor would have to be done anyway - so I waited - didn't I...

Filled the gap in the bathroom window - brand new window - had a gap betweenthe frame and the beading - water from the shower sits there and mould grows - so that is filled - just need a lick of paint on the frame again...

Fitting door handles to all the doors - took the old ones off and so they looked out of place when the doors were painted.

Lock on the new bathroom door... did I mention I put a brand new bathroom in? - finished it last month - only to move to LA?! - great timing eh?

anyway - the packers are here and I need to advise on what goes where and when... without the packers - panic would have set in by now..!
