Sk8 gods say NO!

Well... they are giving a strong hint anyway...

I have slowly been pulling together all the bits I need for a new skateboard - been a long time since I had one and I thought being that I am in Cali I need one...

So last trip home I took apart my old deck and got the trucks off it (they have been on every deck since day one - so they have to be recycled...)

I found some wheels but did not have the tools to put them on... so I waited

I found a deck for $15 the other week - a bargain methinks - only to find later the same day a deck for only $10...

I bought new risers, bearings, truck nuts etc. for the project - oh and a skate tool...

I got the 278 design off my Steve McQueen T shirt - this was his race number on his Triumph bike - one of my fave actors ever - so I went with that theme - the grip tape cost me a pair of scissors by the time I had done...

All going well (apart from the 'coincidence' that every time I have bought something to do with a skate board - my back has 'gone out' a couple of days later... message there????

Anyway, I got eh wheels on with the new skate key, put them up to the board and... the holes are wrong for my trucks - that's never happened before... so I got out my trusty drill, drilled a new set and away we go...

Truck bolts are too long - the skate key cannot tighten them up... no matter ... out with the trusty spanners... trucks on... deck assembled...

Trucks are back to front - for got to check that - 50% chance of getting it wrong - I took it...

Trucks off... swapped.... back on...

Something is not right - deck looks small...

This is a freestyle deck - not a street deck... hmmmm - it HAS been a long time...

So I now have a freestyle deck with VERY loose trucks (always rode them loose back in the day) that is hard to stand on when on carpet - never mind when it is moving...

Should I have given up a long time ago... maybe there was a message there....

Don't tighten those trucks yooth.

Variflex clouds I hope.

The freestyle board sounds like a bad idea. you need an old man's longboard.

Yes - I was hoping to go longer - but I thought I had a bargain in my grasp - you know how that goes...

Pics from the ER to follow no doubt (once my back is fixed up that is)
