Surfin' USA

I finally managed top get my wesuit wet on saturday!

woo hoo!!!

out into the Californian sea for some real surfin' fun...

or...

just float around like a very large piece of driftwood and not catch any waves at all...

So, I chose the driftwood option...

The sea was pretty full with really GOOD surfers (no suprises there then) and I was a really BAD surfer... but a really GOOD piece of driftwood (no suprises there then)...

I decided that in order to:

a) not ding up Dexters surfboard that I borrowed (which was a very fine board indeed and far too good for the likes of me)
b) not drop in on someone elses wave and hit them with Dexters board (dinging it in the process)

I floated 'inside' and hoped for some smaller waves to offer up some falling off opportunities.

After an hour or so of floating and paddling I headed back to the beach - waveless...

Still.. the words 'It can only get better' have never rung more true - to suck more than I did would not really be possible (unless I was to fall over on the rocky area whilst getting in/out of the sea and ding the board - but I would have to really try to be worse)

So it's not all bad news...
